The Baker Brothers – Transition Transmission (Reissue)

Originally released in 2008, Transition Transmission marked a significant evolution for The Baker Brothers, moving beyond the raw funk of their early days into a richer, more soulful sound. While the heavy drums and gritty guitar work that defined their earlier records remain, this album introduces lush horns, smooth keys, and polished production that showcases their deep understanding of both soul and funk.

The standout vocals elevate the album even further. Alongside the band's own contributions, the record features the incredible Vanessa Freeman—renowned for her collaborations with artists like Reel People and 4Hero, bringing her signature blend of jazz, soul, and broken beat. Additionally, the legendary Hamish Stuart, known for his tenure with the Average White Band—a group that achieved multiple gold and platinum albums, charted fourteen R&B singles, nine Hot 100 singles, and earned three Grammy nominations—adds his unmistakable voice and deep funk credentials, infusing a timeless quality into the mix. Both artists blend seamlessly with the band's groove, adding new layers of depth and character.

This reissue celebrates an important moment in The Baker Brothers' journey—a record that bridges the gap between their hard-hitting funk roots and a more expansive, soul-driven sound.
